TABANAN

Tabanan is the capital town of the regency of Bali with the same name. Parts of Tabanan regency lie in Central Bali and other parts would be more often regarded as part of West Bali. For the purposes of this guide the Tabanan area will be classified in Central Bali, as that is where the key areas of interest to visitors are located. The coastal areas in the south were previously not well known by visitors due to a lack of infrastructure, but these have been lightly developed in recent years, and there are now some high profile accommodation options there. Tabanan is though more usually associated by visitors with rolling green landscapes, hills and especially the imposing Mount Batukaru, Bali’s second highest peak at 2,276 metres.

Bali Butterfly Park

Who doesn’t like butterflies? Best to visit in the early and mid morning when the butterflies are at their most active. Botanical Gardens

The Bali Botanic Garden (Indonesian: Kebun Raya Bali) is the largest botanic garden in Indonesia and is located in the mountainous region of Bedugul, central Bali, around 90 minutes drive north of Denpasar. The Garden was established on 15 July 1959 and is situated around 1300 metres above sea level overlooking Bratan Lake and the Ulun Danu Temple on the slopes of Tapak Hill. The Garden has an area of 157.5 hectares (389 acres) and daytime temperatures range from 17 – 25 °C

The Garden contains more than 21,000 living specimens belonging to 2,400 species, representing various species from mountainous areas of eastern Indonesia: Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Sulawesi, Maluku and Papua. In addition its herbarium contains 10,000 preserved plant specimens ranging from algae to flowering plants. One of the world’s largest displays of begoniasis also on display in the conservatory building.

Bratan Lake

Beratan lake (also called Lake Bratan or Danu Bratan) is located in the area of Bedugul, Candikuning village, Baturiti district. Lake Bratan is one of The World’s 20 Most Beautiful Lake (source: www.huffingtonpost.com), it is very well known as the best tourist destination visited by many international and domestic travelers. The coolness of the mountains with a stunning view of the lake, temple and mountains and away from the noise of the city so that this place is becoming a favorite tourist destination and recommended place that must be visited while enjoying a holiday in Bali.

Ulun Danu temple also called Pura Ulun Danu is located at the edge of lake Bratan, Ulun Danu temple built in the early 17th century, serves to adore the majesty of God in order to invoke the grace of fertility, prosperity, human well-being and for sustainability of the universe. Ulun Danu temple looks very beautiful when the weather is sunny in the morning when the sun rises and the mist covered mountains in part, and the reflection of Ulun Danu temple looks beautiful from the Beratan lake so that this moment is very coveted by tourists and photographers to capture their precious moments

Tanah Lot

Tanah Lot is one of the important directional temples in Bali. The temple is located on a rock just offshore. It is said to be the work of revered 15th century Hindu priest Nirartha and forms an important element of Balinese spiritualism and mythology.

This is an extremely popular tourist destination and the whole area is often very busy indeed, especially in the late afternoons, pre-sunset.  There is a footpath to the raised cliff area just to the south from where the views of the temple and the sunset behind it are outstanding. Photo-opportunities abound.

At low tide visitors can walk to to the base of Tanah Lot. For a small donation you can be blessed and can then walk some 20 metres around the side on a path, that eventually leads up to the temple. You have no better view of than from that on the sand. The only advantage being that you are standing on the base of Tanah Lot itself.

Jatiluwih rice terrace

Bali Jatiluwih Rice Terrace is a favorite tourist destination in Bali famous with the beautiful rice terrace unfolding from the foot of mountain until the coastal side. It is one of places to visit in Bali with the beautiful view as according to its name from Jati and luwih, where Jati mean really and Luwih meaning especial, good, and beautiful or the equivalent. Jatiluwih rice cultivation has an area of approximately 636 ha. And this Jatiluwih rice field located at an altitude of 700 meters above sea level. This area is a suitable place to visit for the one who missed the Mountain fresh air and the natural panorama as a place to soothe the mind, because of the beautiful place that is still natural with fresh air.

(Buyan and Tamblingan lake)

Lake Buyan and Lake Tamblingan, separated by a rainforest-covered hill, approximately one kilometers, there is a pool that is connected directly to the lake Buyan through a narrow canal. The community pool is called Telaga Aya. The two lakes are known as the Twin Lakes. This sight is a great overview of the volcanic heart of Bali. Volcanoes have created and shaped this island, creating volcanic cones and lakes, and producing rich soils enabling a lush forest to grow. This lake is one of three twin lakes that formed in a large caldera. He was flanked by two other lakes, namely Lake Tamblingan in the west and Lake Bratan in the east. Lake Buyan (on the left here) is Bali’s second biggest lake, after Lake Batur and Tamblingan lake is the smallest lake on the island.

Penatahan Hot Springs

Blahmantung Waterfall

Blahmantung Waterfall is a beautiful waterfall in Tabanan, west part of Bali. Furthermore, Blahmantung Waterfall is one of the best Bali Waterfalls and beautiful nature heritages that Bali has. It’s location in the hidden place surrounded by pure natures includes tropical trees and give the peaceful and serenity ambiance. It is located close to precious farming village of Pujungan with awesome landscapes and really friendly local society, Blahmantung Waterfall is also close to Pupuan in Tabanan regency, west part of Bali Island. We need 2,5 hours drive to reach this waterfall from Ngurah Rai International Airport passing through Bajra Village and exploring the fresh and pure natures. It is one of Bali Places of Interest that you must visit when traveling to this paradise island.

Alas Kedaton Monkey Forest

Alas Kedaton Monkey Forest Bali is one of the most famous holy monkey forest sanctuary in Bali, Indonesia, the forest covers 6.4 hectares inhabited by monkeys and big bats. The name of Alas Kedaton is taken from the Balinese words “Alas” which means forest and “Kedaton” means the palace (formerly called Keraton).

Alas Kedaton Temple is a megalithic Hindu temple relics of ancient times, which is located in the middle of the Kedaton forest. The temple was built by Mpu Kuturan during the reign of King Sri Masula Masuli in Bali around 1178 AD – 1255 AD.

Alas Kedaton holy monkey forest is one the most popular monkey forest in Bali, and becoming a favorite tourist destination. This place will be visited by many tourists, especially on public holidays. Visitors will usually be assisted by a local guide who knows the area around the forest to have a look around surrounding the temple and forest areas.

Pura Luhur Batukaru

If you enjoy visiting temples on Bali, but don’t like the tourist crowds that come with the most popular ones, check out Pura Luhur Batukaru (Batukau). Despite being one of the nine directional temples on Bali and one of the most important, sacred sites for the local Hindus, it gets much fewer visitors than other temples, making for a relaxed, wonderful exploration of the site! This Hindu temple is located on the slopes of Mount Batukaru, the second highest volcano on Bali. We need to take some minor roads to get to the temple.

You can combine it with a trip to Pura Ulundanu Beratan and the Jatiluwih Rice Terraces for a great day trip! The temple was originally built in the 11th century and rebuilt in 1959 in the form you see today. It consists of multiple temples in the complex on the hill side. The main complex has multiple pagoda-style temples, with multiple arranged in a single walled compound with three, five and seven roofs stepping up from the entrance to the back.

Taman Ayun temple

Taman Ayun literally translates as ‘beautiful garden’ and is generally regarded as one of the most attractive temples of Bali. The Taman Ayun temple is situated in a beautiful park with trees and ponds, near the village of Mengwi in the south of Bali at about 8 km southwest of Ubud.

ura Taman Ayun was built in 1634 by the Raja of Mengwi, I Gusti Agung Putu. It is a socalled Pura Kawiten or family temple, a special temple where the deified ancestors of the Raja Dynasty of Mengwi and important gods of other temples are honored.

The Taman Ayun temple is bordered by broad canals and it can only be entered via a bridge leading to a richly ornamented candid bentar, the gate which gives access to the outer courtyard (jaba) of the temple.

Belimbing Rice Terrace

Belimbing Village is one of the traditional Balinese villages situated about 600 meter above sea level surrounded by good temperature located in Tabanan Regency, west part of Bali Island. It is about 30 km from Denpasar Town or 2 hours drives by car. The village is well featured by the wonderful natures with panorama view in particular with rice terrace. Belimbing Village own the fertile land with some of tropical plantation thrive in this area includes durian, coffee, clove, rambutan, mangosteen and much more. It is strategically located beside of the main road from Tabanan to Pupuan town by passing Antasari Village.
